ROAD SAFETY
Roads are made for the economic development of the nation . It helps to heavy supply and transport of commodities and for quick travel of the people . It also saves time and labor . In India , a network of roads have been made and there are many under construction. Two wheelers , three wheelers , four wheelers , ten wheelers as well as bi-cycle and bullock carts use the roads . Some times the roads are found to be jammed with heavy traffic . What is pathetic side of this is that everyday a lot of people are killed by road accidents .
One of the causes of the road accidents is that most of the drivers are unqualified and /or inefficient . Another cause that they compete among themselves to run their wheelers fast and to cross one another at any cost . A lot among them are old and worn out or the joint of their parts have gone loose . Again the roads are over burden with innumerable number of vehicles and carriages . At some places the roads are too narrow for heavy traffic. Some times the passerby forget to be careful during their walk on the road for which most of them are run over by the vehicles .
For the road safety , the pedestrians should know and obey the law of the road . While walking along the road they should positively keep to their left ( in India ) and keep careful all the while for they may be run over owing to the mistake of any one. Before crossing the road ,they should look at both sides and should cross the road ,when they are sure that it is safe to cross at that time . Public should replace the unqualified and inefficient drivers by qualified and efficient ones . The drivers should avoid rash driving and unhealthy competition to run faster than the other . The old and worn out vehicles should be replaced by new ones. The vehicles should be properly checked every time and worn out parts should be replaced immediately by new ones. The roads should be made fit for the traffic .The narrow and broken roads should be regularly repaired . The passenger carrying vehicles should carry due number of passengers . Most of the roads should be one way traffic .
Do not drink while driving .Use seat belts and helmets .
